Urethral Plug in a Rat (Rattus norvegicus)
Abstract
Urethral plugs are a common finding in domestic rats. These plugs are generally comprised of proteinacious material and sperm. Although common, urethral plugs have not been previously associated with pathology. This case describes a large urethral plug as the causative agent of total urinary obstruction in a rat.
